3 Guns. 1 bullet. 4 Dead.
3 Guns. 1 Bullet. 4 Dead. is a stark reflection on gun violence and the devastation that extends far beyond those who are killed.
Seven figures are compressed into a tense, chaotic composition—victims, aggressors, and witnesses seemingly caught in the same instant. The three guns and single bullet create the immediate tragedy, but the small child at the far left shifts the meaning of the painting. She represents those left behind: the families, children, and communities whose lives are permanently changed.
The line beneath the title--“News reports gave no count for the number of broken lives.”—is the heart of the work. Statistics can count the dead, but they cannot measure grief, trauma, fear, or the lasting consequences carried by survivors.
An original artwork by Kimm Barnes, 3 Guns. 1 Bullet. 4 Dead. explores violence, loss, consequence, and the human cost hidden behind the numbers.
