Holding On depicts a man submerged beneath the water, gripping the bottom as his body floats upward. Surrounded by fish and the unexpected beauty of an underwater world, he appears caught between surrendering to the current and refusing to let go.
The image turns the simple act of holding on into a metaphor for perseverance, fear, and our instinct to cling to what feels secure—even when forces beyond our control are pulling us elsewhere. The peaceful underwater setting creates a gentle tension: what looks dangerous may also contain beauty and possibility.
An original artwork by Kimm Barnes, Holding On explores struggle, uncertainty, resilience, and the difficult choice between holding on and letting go.
