Waiting for the Next Big Wave uses humor and uncertainty to reflect the way we sometimes live our lives: surviving one upheaval while already anticipating the next. The figures may appear prepared, but their unstable footing suggests how little control we really have over the forces surrounding us.
The painting explores uncertainty, anticipation, resilience, and the uneasy balance between being prepared for life and simply being carried along by it.
