Breaking the Pomegranate Heart explores the vulnerability of relationships and the pain that follows when love is divided. Like a pomegranate broken open, a heart contains many pieces; what happens between two people can scatter outward and touch the lives of others.
The painting balances sorrow with hope. Amid separation and struggle, some figures still reach for one another, suggesting that even a broken heart can continue to hold love.
